On Monday, we decided to carry on an age old tradition (in the Naus clan) to pick cherries together. I absolutely love fruit season. Freshness. Mmmmmm. SOoooo delightful. Dreams of cherry desserts, cherry fruit slushies, cherry cherry cherry.....
I was (once again) baffled by how HELPFUL miss Julia was. I totally underestimate her. She picked a lot of berries all by herself. moving from tree to tree, happily munching and picking. Although we ran her through a quick tutorial on pit-spitting....she still has about 10 in her belly....oh well, i think it bothers the mommy more than the girlie.
Playing around with the Black and White feature on my camera, since i forgot it was there!!!! (i forgot for almost 3 years...that is so bad.
Happy pickers. Here Dave and Julia are displaying the 75 pounds of cherries that we picked together: Mom, Dad, Dave, Julia and I . Good thing they don't wieght US on the way in and on the way out!!

Sounds like great fun!! Our family tradition is strawberry picking, which Eric and my dad did yesterday! It's so great to just open up the freezer and have such wonderful berries whenever we want!! Love you guys!!

Those berries all lined up in unique baskets look so magazine cover! I would buy that mag with your cute little family on the front with red, round berries!
A friend brought us a huge basket of strawberries just the other day. We topped off our chocolate cheese cake with sliced strawberries and it was heavenly! We don't have a deep freeze, so only a few are making it into the freezer, the rest are being eaten!
Happy summer baking and picking! Hope those pits don't slow julia down. You look great! I bet you are loving having all your gorgeous hair back to play with!

umm. yeah, we don't have a deep freeze yet. so we have one STUFFED freezer! haha.

I think it's an old wives tale, but I was always told that cherry pits got stuck in your appendix...so I lived in fear of the pit...it was the pits...
