Garden changes

dave brought home two WONDERFUL pieces of drift wood from Quebec lake shores....

in the above shot...you can see a string along the bottom of the picture, that is where dave will be putting a walk way across to the driveway.AND THE FABULOUS NEW SHAPE on the left side of the garden....where weeds, maple saplings and more had taken over...now...it is ready for some designing work. but first i have to wait until it is tilled and i must add new soil...and my fertilizer...and theni can decorate with rocks , wood, and flowers. (and pottery and perhaps teapots and such after a visit to the good will, or value village....)

loves. take care. ENJOY THE GREEN AND BLUE AND WONDERFUL EARTH! :)

mmmmmm. dirt in my toes.

I can feel the gardening excitement in your post! Happy landscaping.
Oh, saw this great idea for a child's mini garden in a book. In a fruit box (or wooden box) make a garden layout like you would a real garden, but with small scale plants and such. They even used some doll furniture type things, like a mini basket and wheel barrel.. it was so cute and perfect for a child to learn to garden in.

ha, that's a GREAT idea Janie. so cute! i let Julia pick out a flower at the greenhouse..and i let her plant them around some rocks in our garden...she enjoys gardening with us...but she FREAKS out at the worms!! haha. your bug house gift has helped her to be more interested in most creepy crawlies...but those worms...she just won't warm up to them! hahaha.

thx sis. i think it IS Nu's extended influence! haha. you have sparked a bit of earthiness and art in all of us withyour garden blog...adn your landscaping hubby!!

We're learning about soil and composting right now and Evan and I were just reading a really fun, educational book from the library about worms called "Squirmy Wormy Composters." It had some really neat information in it. Maybe reading something like that would help Julia get over her fear - at least a little bit!

:o)
