SINTERKLAAS!!

The Christmas concert at TCA is always lovely. Julia's class sang 3 very sweet Christmas songs (Christ centered which i LOVE) and they recited Luke 2 (portions of it) for us to hear. I love that these kids enjoy the magic of Christmas, but they seem to know that the BEST part of that "magical feeling" is that a little baby was born and He became the Savior of the world. how COOL is that?? Anyway. IT was a very nice concert for all to see. Every other grade did a Play of some sort, all of which were very well done. (pause for applause) :)

I have had one of Julia's songs in my head ever since the performance... it is about a child that says, "Christmas used to just means toys for me, until mother sat me down and told me to say Christmas this way" And they the song goes through each letter of the word, "C is for the Christ child, born on Christmas Day" "H for herald angels in the night" "r means our Redeemer" "I means Israel" etc etc etc. It is a Very sweet song.

SinterKlaas Day!!!!

We opened our gifts from Nana and Grandpa!!! THANK YOU mom and dad for the lovely puzzles, art things, and the little people car ! We mixed up the name tags, and Sam opened Mercy's car by accident. It was then that we realized there was a mix up - but no harm was done, since the two little ones still don't really understand the gift giving ritual . :)

For a family afternoon art project, we made a Graham Cracker Village. (i stole this idea from my childhood friends the Enns'.) Although our village looks ... well ... very interesting *ahem* i do believe that one year, when the kids are a little older, it may look as pretty and charming as the villages Mrs. Enns used to make. I was envisioning a church steeple, some homes, a sled being pulled down the icing hill... but well, we have two homes (with very random decorations) and some "forts" thanks to Julia. We have a fence, thanks to sam. And we have a garden (in the snow, i know, i know, wrong season) thanks to me.

Mercy has been developing many new "looks" lately. Here is one of the more "mad" looking ones.... hahahahaha. She makes me crack up .. what a face.

We spent the morning slowly opening gifts and then playing with whatever we received. Puzzles, games, cars, a new Wii game called "Sports Resort" (ooohh man is it ever fun! and we got at just the right moment too!! NOw that the -18 weather is here and Dave adn I can't enjoy our bike as much, at least we can tandem race in our LIVING ROOM!! hahahahahaha)

MMMMM.... chocolate-nut spread on bread.... mmm mmm mmm. (and ON FACE apparently.)

You had quite the Sinterklaas Day. (Different from Christmas) The kids look like they had a blast. And a Christ-based Christmas programme! As it should be. (I was subbing on Friday in a class that had on the board "Jesus is the reason for the season!") Spot on! as they say.
