long time no post...

Hi all,

ah, summer is winding down to a beautiful ending this week. We have been keeping busy with a new kind of focus it seems, getting ready for school and fall and a different schedule. Not as many outings, more house cleaning, more list making, more schedule...i suppose. :) I feel ready for the change. i love the lazy-go-where-you-will summer non-schedule, but i think that structure will be refreshing.

i ordered a mass of photos to fill my 2009 album and they all printed fuzzy....the photo lab tried to be polite in telling me my technology could use an update by saying the resolution i'm chosing isn't right for the size of photo i'm printing... but i haven't changed anything - strangly enough - since the last time i had them printed (andthey were clear pictures then). anyway, i guess that will go on the "things to save up for "list. :) Is it odd that i enjoy not being able to run out and purchase whatever i want, whenever i want? is it odd that i feel satisfaction in knowing we must save and choose an appropriate time to buy some things? i think it's odd, but then i'm stuck with myself, so i better get used to weirdness. haha.

i would be lying if i said we always wait to purchase items.... like... say our bike.. that was a whim... "oh look a 2nd hand tandem for a real steal... um.. yes we'll take that!" haha. That is a blessing though, if it were up to me, we would penny pinch too much and not have enough fun... thankfully dave knows when to splurge a little! :) the Tandem has been the best thing that happened to dating for a long time! :) WE LOVE IT!

in fact, we are planning a 140 km round trip ride for D's bday (with two nights of camping inbetween the first 70 and the last 70 km). We are stoked!!!!!! and hoping the weather permits us to ride! :) For practice we buzzed down to the next town over for a date this week. 30 km round trip with dessert and friends in the middle of the journey! :) did i mention that we absolutely LOVE it?

I think tandem bike-training would be a good addition to marriage counseling... you know... one week intensive course on how to communicate. put two people and a tandem on the road to somewhere war away and tell them to figure out how to talk to each other. :) heehee.

anyway... sounds like the kids are getting up, time to go make breaky.

oh yeah , the picture i posted is Julia working on a special bday project for aunti ann, she wanted to make her a quilt.... i'm impressed with how well she is doing it (by hand and for her age!) :) all i am doing is cutting and ironing... she is doing the rest. cool eh?

Julia, I am happy to see you working on a quilt. Wow, how special! Soon you'll be back at school with friends and a nice teacher and it will be so much fun. Susan, you have such great ideas! I think your biking trips sound awesome and I'll pray that you'll have good weather for biking. You don't need any thunder storms! We get to see you all in just 5 weeks, yea!! Love and hugs to you all, Love Nana

Cycling is definitely the perfect date! Rob & I don't have a tandem but we certainly love our long rides together.
I might change my mind during magpie season though :)
