story time

hey mom, they are FINALLY DONE. haha. i procrastinated LONG enough....here are the first COMPLETED curtains in our home!

While shopping with some friends the other day, i discovered that Target (in the states) carries a lot of really awesome Children's literature!!!

I have a terrible long term memory about some things...and this is one of them. i can't remember a lot of my childhood in concrete memories. (because i was in my own world the whole time, i just know it!) So i recall a few books i liked, but not a ton....sooo....

I'd love to hear what everyone's FAVORITE children't book was and is......

okay....let the stories begin!!!!

wow, i have many favorite books from childhood. I loved most poetry books for starters, and would memorize lots of poems. One of my favorite story books is called "the balloon tree" written by Phoebe Gilman. It is filled with beautiful illustrations, and the pictures somehow "glow". It is a great story with a good message as well! We have shelves full of books, and now that we have Corrina that collection is growing all the time! I always loves pictures with lots of little details and of course all about little girls! I was also very fond of the "jillian jigs" books.
If you find the balloon tree enjoy!

oh yeah, and very very pretty curtains. Does the fabric have those little bits (leaves, flowers? can't tell from photo...) on it already, or did you put those there?
I also have curtains i have been procrastinating. They are just sorta boring to sew and i move to the next project. Oh well, one day!

I love the curtains! They soften up the hobbit hole window very nausely. :)

My fav book, oh I just had a flash back of it...I don't know who wrote it or what it was called, so I'm no help. But it was about a mouse that lived in a little hole in this house and his bed was a match box and all his furniture was household items and no one knew he was there but the cat. I used to imagine my closet was an imaginary miniature house because of that book. Well, the same theme can be found in the Little's series, which I never found til I had kids. So I brought them home, and my kids didn't care for them! I felt so...so...belittled...

Thanks for the DE JA VU, Su!

Good job on the curtains...they look just lovely!!! Aren't you talented? :)

As for stories, my favourite when I was little was a wee bit morbid...about a young girl with a ribbon tied around her neck....everyone always wondered why she was never without it...and one day someone untied it ....and her head fell off....!! Rumour has it that I used to read it to everyone that came into our house!!! haha (told you it was morbid!!)
Love you!!

Janers, i will have to find some great poetry books for Jules. and the balloon tree sounds very lovely. i enjoy books that have detailed pictures so you can stare at them for hours and get lost in them.

Maybe someone will find out what your story is called Carla!! anyone know what it is?????

I can't remember reading much as a child.. but reading to Taylor has been so much fun. He loves "I'll love you forever", and so many Robert Munch books, as well as the Chronicles. We are almost finished the magician's nephew.

Wonderful Curtins, what room are then in??
