Present Day brunch: daddy made some great eggs and bacon; mommy and Julia made cinnamon buns and fruit salad.(we slept in and opened gifts before eating to make it more special) (also, notice julia is wearing her new horse STILL)
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm good food. the horse likes it too.
in my stocking i found this lovely bracelet made by Julia. heehee.Dave spoiled me....these are the books he got me for christmas.....heehee. i finished the Storekeeper's Daughter already...okay, confession, i finished it at 1 am the night i got it....let's say it was pretty good, and timely since i am done my history of the church text book....so i needed a good emotional read to counter the good historical read! thank you thank you thank you dave!!! i love you!!! you know me so well....haha. he planned a great little hunt around the house for each book...there was one hiding in the piano bench, one in the sewing table, one in julia' s room, etc. so fun!
and this is just a super cute picture i forgot to post a couple weeks ago.

I had the joy of hosting a Cookie exchange on saturday, and recieved a great book from a wonderful women in our church. "The Power of a praying Wife, Parent, Women" So far it is great. I am sure it is going to take me a while to read this, but I am also sure that it will prove to be very helpful to our family!

Excellent book choices.
Boy the time really is ahead of us in Ontario...like, a week?
hahahaha. :)
okay, i forgot to put why we did a 'present day' before christmas came! silly me.
our idea sprouted from us going to dave's parents house for Christmas eve staying the night and spending all of Christmas day there. we really wanted to have our own family gift time and such, so we created 'present day' which is for waking late, opening gifts, eating brunch together, and playing together the whole day long.
we were intending this to be done on the Dutch Christmas (dec.6) but it came too quickly this year, and we were not prepared. so...easy enough, we moved it to a day that dave had off of work, and voila! family tradition is beginning to form.
that's mostly it. after deciding to do this, we realized how neat it will be for Julia to see more than just 'getting things' as the Christmas Day holiday (since that excitement will be held for 'present day') and we hope it allows us to focus more on Christ and His gift to us. who knows. we may just be dreaming here...
might as well try though! :)
loves.
Sue, that is wonderful! Thanks for letting us in on your secret!
Taylor only gets three gifts at christmas from "Santa" as we have decided that Jesus only recieved 3 gifts, so we can slowly take him back to what Christmas really is about.
Is sure is fun to start your own family triditions. I know that we are slowly getting ours started also.
:) good for you guys! traditions are wonderful to the foundation of a family. lovely. talk to you soon i hope. from sue
