Adams Bday

This past week has been rather uneventful, except for a few fun family adventures. tuesday was Uncle Adams' bday so we took the kids, a brownie-cake, a sign that read "happy birthday Adam!" and blankets to the park where he was playing baseball. After doing a good job of embarrassing him with shouts and cat calls and Julia's never ending 'happy birthday uncle adam, UNCLE ADAM, happy birthday!!!!!' - we distributed the bday brownie to the 'crowd' and saved some for the bday boy . It was pretty fun. I just wish it hadn' tbeen sooooooooo cold!!!! the wind froze us all. crazy weather.
The next event of the week was the next day, when we celebrated Adam's bday as a family. Julia helped put decorations up and set the table and sweep the floors..... and sam , well, he helped un-decorate. :) at least he waited until the party was nearly over. :) haha.
Here Oma and Julia are looking through a kids recipe book trying to decide what would be best to make....

zoo#2

The rest are self explanatory, but this one needs the story with it. see the ball out in the middle of the photo?? well, Julia was sitting with us, resting and watching the Rhino's (which i didn't take a picture of...oops) when she commented , "they sure do lay big eggs". ha. most of the animals have these ball things in their cages somewhere... i'm guessing for exercise?? but we thought it was pretty funny. I guess i know what part of her education i should work on next. :)

a little late i guess, but here is the ZOO!

the butterfly conservatory was beautiful!!!!! The air was thick with fluttering wings and colors and warmth. Leaves, trees, flowers and ponds were everywhere.

Our butterflies. :)

events

opa stopped by earlier this week with a special present for the kids, a gift from his heart and his obsession: phones. yes phones. the kids LOVE THEM.( i had to get pictures of their play time with the phones just for you dad, since you didn't get to see how happy sam was when he woke up from his nap to a phone of his very own!! ) i say obsession lightly because dad is always on the phone, or buying a phone, or complaining about a phone, or looking for a phone, or finding a phone, or talking on two phones if it is a good day. yep, a phone was the perfect gift from Opa! :)
THE BEAUTIFUL SIGHT WE SEE EVERY DAY OUT OF OUR FRONT WINDOW!! :) sunny days are even BETTER! isn't that glorious?? it smells lovely too!!

Circles

SO, my son has this humorous obsession with circles. dave is convinced that if sam had lived before the wheel, he would have invented it. It sounds silly, i know, but really, you give sam a toy (such as the above) and he THROWS the other shapes OUT and only plays with the circle, pops it through the circle hole, over and over and over. this morning when dave saw sam in the nursery at church, what was he doing? playing with TWO different circle toys, one in each hand.

i love finding quirks in the growing personalities of my kids!!
